UPlift Black is a social impact agency working to UPlift the Black community in Simcoe County. Our work is culturally based, in solidarity with Indigenous peoples, and anchored in 2SLGBTQI+ inclusivity, striving to achieve the ultimate goal of racial equity through a conscious and UPlifted community. In recognizing the need for Black youth to have the space to share their experiences, partake in community building and wellness initiatives, and increase their knowledge of their culture(s), UPlift Black YOUth was created.
The UPlift Black YOUth: Empowering Young Minds program is a weekly after-school facilitated peer support group that seeks to improve and uplift the lives of Black children and adolescents in Simcoe County. Our main obiectives are to:
- Create a safe and non-judgemental space for youth to use their voice and express themselves.
- Build a sense of community and foster meaningful connections and relationships.
- Empower ideas, build confidence, and UPlift Black youth in Simcoe Countv.
The UPlift Black YOUth program is structured to provide an opportunity for Black children and youth in Simcoe County to freely discuss and share their experiences in a non-judgemental safe space guided by one of our UPlifters who have experience in education and social work.
The Weekly Drop-In program is FREE and runs from 4:30 to 6:30pm on Wednesdays + field trips on PD days and weekends!
Parents can look forward to updates from the UPlift Black YOUth team about fun activities the youth are participating in!
