Xander Thibodeau
Bio
Xander is multi-media artist who lives in Barrie, On. They have a strong focus on beaded wearable art. Living in Barrie, On, they are a proud member of the UBAC, where they on occasion teach jewelry and beading workshops. They are a member of the Ontario Coalition of Indigenous People (OCIP), and the Congress of Aboriginal People (CAP).
Xander has had a long past of taking part in community groups and volunteering. Grassroots action is a passion. Along with many others they have donated work and energy to help raise funds for many community projects and organizations. This includes helping people travel for ceremony, the creation of Nimkii Aazhibikong culture camp, The ACSC, serving on the board of Barrie Pride and most recently Uplift Black. All have been so valuable as a sense of belonging is essential for any community to thrive.
As a creator, Xander uses unusual upcycled, natural, and high-end materials. A wide range of prices there is something for almost every budget. Trades are also available for those on a fixed or low-income as Xander themselves (like so many others) face many financial challenges. Their work has been sold/featured online as The Soaring Quill, at the BNFC, the 1st annual Georgian Bay 2 spirit Pow wow, Le Petite Chapeau, University of New Brunswick, 2019 PIE Holiday event, and of course Uplift Black!
