Truth and Transformation - A movement to combat anti-Black gender based violence against Black Women, Girls, Gender Diverse and Trans People in Canada

In recognition of the 16 days of activism to end gender-based violence, This dialogue will centre the voices and needs of Black survivors of gender-based violence. Through open and meaningful discussion, we aim to better understand the specific challenges Black survivors face and collectively shape the next steps for advocacy and community support.

What to expect:


10:00am to 10:30am: Welcome and Settle in (light refreshments and hot and cold beverages will be available)


10:30am to 11:15am: Panel Discussion - Survivors fireside chat


11:15am to 12:00pm: Mapping of services and open discussion with frontline GBV service workers


12:00pm to 1:00pm Lunch (provided) and guided self love painting with Nenokassi 


1:00pm to 3:00pm - Survivors only experience sharing (recorded session) and healing circle.

About The Amourgynoir Code


Our goal is to explore the lived experiences of Black women, girls, gender diverse and trans folks who identify as: i. survivors of gender-based violence and/or, ii. advocates who disrupt anti-Black racism and gender-based violence. Our findings will inform government policy and practice in the area of gender-based violence and support the development of more effective responses that are grounded in loving kindness and uplift Black women, girls, gender diverse and trans folks who are survivors of gender-based violence
